Fougére Ondine NEW PERFUME first notes

Hello Fragrant Friends, curious noses and Patrons I'm very excited to introduce a new perfume. ( to view videos at bottom of the page you might have to go in "Internet browser mode" they are wonderful I would hate for you to miss out) Fougére Ondine is a heady, ethereal watery and powdery sweet floral Solar Fougére. Ondine was composed with three primary elements: the composition "Ondine" by Ravel, the classic fairy tale like poem Ondine which tells a tale of a Selkie - A kind of mischievous mermaid who tries to lure a man to live in her underwater kingdom but she herself is lured above water and a fictional story within it - of an actress- played by Jean Harlow in my perfume -who also looses herself in a mirror daydreaming trying to escape a sad oppressive relationship. She's not herself in the mirror but becoming "Ondine" getting lost in fantasy-dreaming of a romance so desirable & unabashedly unobtainable that takes her away from reality & pain - & we let her- dream ~ forgiving the Perfume it's unapologetic glorious swooning Ylang and rich lavender concrete - narcotic and heady as her dream to escape.

Her romantic protagonist that is that one fateful evening at a window pane & falls in love with her "Ondine" is represented by a traditional Fougére accord, with fresh tops of herbs, solid rose & lavender heart and coumarin base - The Selkie Ondine emerges as in the beginning of the piece like moonlight glittering off water with wonder sparkling spices and Citrus Ylang & watery blue chamomile & lily facades are joyful, mischievous - her underwater kingdom and the basis for British isle folklore are tributed with gorgeous aged marbled Scottish ambergris and seashells.

I really went indepth with this Perfume. there is much illusion with reflection. I played light reflecting off water & the distortions and illusions in a mirror. In the poem it mentions flora and trees which I made use of featuring salicylate notes which may come from balsamic sweet florals like Ylang (Two incredible distillations: one from Mandy Aftel a Ylang Concrete and the other a beautiful Ylang from Enfleurage) - other herbs, flowers and “grasses” of flouve I used to create the light floral, dreamy & soft hazy effects. An ocean backdrop with Scottish Ambergris, Onchya ( Tinctured snail shells) and Choya Nak ( 11 year old aged roasted seashell tincture) envelops us in Ondine's opulent world. The romance culminating at the base -both of them entwined in a vanilla, tonka absolute, cistus amd labdanum resin absolute amber accord. There's a touch of leather using natural vegetative and humane animalics such as Saffron absolute and rock hyrax.

I definitely wanted a lack of distinctiveness between the notes as this is a fantasy- thus there is a initial sparkle as heard in the beginning of Ravel's Ondine - the piano ripples with curiosity, seeming to represent the water and something mysterious & unknown-Ondine this mythological creature making her way up to the surface of the ocean to the man’s window pane in her “watered silk”.
Jean Harlow's character's need to escape and the romance created an allusion. It is expressed with an accord of vintage powder incorporated as the character is at a dressing table looking into a hand mirror -very absently & delicately applying powder to her face and declegere. The softness like a whisper or a caress.

She imagines herself as Ondine but in her reverie -verses the man in the poem, he agrees to live with her and they fall in love. She’s looking in the mirror far away from her instead of herself -and in the uncomfortable life that she’s living- In the mirror is Ondine- a creature that is clever, fantastical, powerful & beautiful with her own palace -where she can escape to any depth with a man who would devotedly follow her there.

Fougére Ondine Is what she is wearing staring into the mirror among all the beautiful things around seem orderly and ideal on screen as an actress and yet she longs to escape further- into more beauty and romance- the perfume is heady with illusion, untouched by heartbreak.
